Bob Laurie and Shrina Faldu Obtain Defense Verdict for Manufacturing Client in Breach of Contract and Unfair Trade Practices Case

News

Bob Laurie and Shrina Faldu obtained a defense verdict for their client, Maier USA, LLC., in a breach of contract and unfair trade practices action pending in the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. Maier, an importer of CNC-Swiss style machine tools manufactured by its parent company, Maier Germany, entered into a regional distribution agreement with Innovative Sales and Machine Services, LLC (“ISMS”) in 2008. After that agreement terminated, ISMS brought suit against Maier alleging that it had wrongfully terminated the agreement, engaged in unfair trade practices and owed commissions and damages in excess of $1,000,000. Following a bench trial, Judge Donna F. Martinez entered a defense verdict finding that the plaintiff failed to demonstrate any wrong doing on the part of Maier. ISMS has until May 2, 2016 to seek an appeal.
